In May of 2001, the Town of La Conner began to contract law enforcement services with the Skagit County Sheriff's Office. Prior to that time, La Conner managed its own police department. The La Conner Precinct of the Sheriff's Office is located at 204 Douglas Street adjacent to Town Hall. The Precinct is staffed by a Sergeant and patrol deputies
The La Conner Detachment is a unit within the Sheriff's Office patrol division. The patrol division is responsible for policing the unincorporated areas of Skagit County from the San Juan Islands to the summit of the Cascade Mountain Range. The patrol division is comprised of four squads of patrol deputies. The patrol squads are supplemented with the Traffic unit, K9 unit, and East Precinct, which provide Law Enforcement services to East Skagit County. The patrol division manages search and rescue, as well as seasonal boat patrols. The patrol division is committed to serving and protecting the persons and property of Skagit County.
Highway safety is important. Potential dangers include poorly fitting car seats, reckless drivers, extreme weather and teen inexperience. Thankfully there's a guide that breaks down the main points of child passenger and family safety on highways. It also directs parents and caregivers to key resources so they can stay updated.
